As it was shopping day why not take the bike? (in the car or course)
Grenoble has many car free cycle lanes and as I haven’t been on a bike since November I thought I had better start somewhere and no excuse the sun was out.
I parked the car at the usual place and decided to set off on the cycle lane that follows the river for 35 k and turn around. The Vercors to my left on the outward stretch.
I couldn`t believe how many other cyclists of all ages were out mid week, the track surface is tarmac and in very good condition. There isn’t much climbing involved, I think about 70 meters in 70k.
Everyone was ok on the track except the cycle club who think, they own the right to cycle in the opposite direction 4 abreast. I held my line and made them pull in=Muppets.
The cycle route I was on ends up in Orange, maybe another day.
When I arrived back at the car I felt like I had just ridden the Marmotte route — a lot of training required or it’s going to be a hard year.
